Five Space-Saving Body Care Items for College Students
When I went to college, I remember trying to squeeze too many hair, skin, and laundry products into a tiny space. When I used the common shower area or laundry space, I’d lug around these heavy plastic bottles in my little caddy and be on my way. Today, students have better choices to help save space and maintain proper body care. Here are my top 5 product recommendations to keep the shower caddy light and body care on point. (Bonus: These products are also packaged to help the environment, too.)
Top 5 Space-Saving Body Care Products for College Life
1. Laundry detergent sheets
Say goodbye to the heavy plastic laundry bottles, and say hello to one of the best inventions yet: laundry detergent sheets. Not only are they easier to carry than laundry bottles, they take up less space and are much better for our environment. (I recommend Earth Breeze laundry sheets.)
2. Shampoo and conditioner bars
I was hesitant to transition to bars for my haircare, but I am so glad I did. Just like laundry sheets, they are environmentally friendly (no more plastic bottles!). They also seem to last longer, they’re chemical-free, they take up much less space, and they feel great on my hair.
3. Multi-purpose bar soap
There are some bar soaps that are great for the body and face - not only does this cut back on the number of products you need, but it also saves money. My favorite product for a body and face bar is Dr. Bronner’s Pure Castile bar.
4. Lotion bar
Long gone are the days of plastic bottles with unreliable pumps. A lotion bar is a solid block of lotion packed with moisturizing ingredients. It’s easy to apply and carry with you. They’re great for our skin, perfect for dorm life, and easy to take on the go anywhere.
(Speaking of lotion bars, check out Mona Moon’s Body Balm. It’s our version of a lotion bar that is in a compostable paper tube!)
5. Deodorant stick
There’s no need to carry a big, plastic deodorant tube anymore. Deodorant sticks are more compact, and they are typically packaged in compostable containers or reusable packages. I prefer those made with all-natural ingredients that keep me fresh all day.
Packing for college is a lot like packing for travel - space is limited and the more you can do with the space, the better! For college students especially, I like to consider products that are easy to use, effective, and won’t break the bank. What products do you recommend for college students?
